A little slower in Provence, a little busier here

Autumn is settling beautifully over Provence. The nights are cooler, the days still warm, the crowds are thinning and the light is softening as the countryside begins to change colour. You often ask us when the best time is to visit, and we never quite know what to say. Every season has its charm, whether you are looking for peaceful villages or long hot days. September, though, is hard to beat. We have always loved going away just as everyone else heads back to work too! After plenty of Provence this summer, sadly not this year. There is plenty happening at Tariette instead. Our hampers are 20% off this month, there are still a few summer brocante finds waiting to be discovered, and our Petits Lots offer lets you buy six for the price of five on most of our food range. We also have a great line up of events coming up, so come and see us if we are near you. It is always lovely to meet you in person. And finally, some of you may remember us mentioning our little house near Saignon in the Luberon. The renovation adventure is beginning, and we will be sharing a little more about that very soon…

We love unearthing beautiful antiques and pieces with a story, and sharing them with you. A few finds are still for sale in the Brocante section of our website. We also have some beautiful watercolour paintings by a local artist, featuring village life in Provence. Contact me to find out more. And if there is something special or unique you would like us to find for you, let me know!

The renovation adventure begins

After months of waiting, we have finally completed the purchase of our little house near Saignon in the Luberon. Once the village primary school, it dates back to the late 1800s. Now the fun begins! We are starting the renovation this autumn, with plans to turn it into a beautiful Provençal holiday home with a Tariette twist. Once finished, it will be available to rent exclusively to Tariette customers! Before and after pictures coming soon. Stay tuned...

The foods we miss as soon as we leave France

Tariette probably would not exist if we had not started missing French food quite so much. Not the fancy things, but the everyday favourites we crave as soon as we are back in England. From ripe Banon and market rotisserie chicken to proper tomatoes, andouillette and even Picard...
